Gather for a screening of Eyes of the Rainbow (1997, 47 mins.), Gloria Ronaldo’s documentary about revolutionary Assata Shakur’s experience finding political asylum in Havana, Cuba after escaping prison. Before and after the screening, grab a drink and learn how to tap into the support campaign for Jakhi McCray. Jakhi McCray is a 22-year-old student and committed organizer in anti-imperialist movements. He is facing federal charges that carry up to 20 years in prison for allegedly setting fire to ten police vehicles belonging to the 83rd precinct in Brooklyn, New York. Proceeds from this event will go to Jakhi’s support campaign for upcoming court dates.
